A leisurely stroll with Les Fouines du Plateau

An activity to be done at your own pace
When a city tour is proposed, it is often through a downloadable application. Presented as a path to follow, it's not always a journey that encourages leisurely wandering at one's own pace. It rarely offers the freedom to stop and resume later.
Visitor freedom was a fundamental condition of the project for Tourisme Montréal, the City of Montreal, the Ministry of Culture and Communications, and the Société de développement de l’Avenue du Mont-Royal. They wanted to give visitors, whether tourists or local residents, the freedom to explore Plateau-Mont-Royal as they pleased.
To realize their vision, they chose to use the MySmartJourney product following a call for proposals.
A virtual project to take home
Using the web platform, they were able to create a hybrid experience that allows free roaming in the neighborhood.
Deployed during the spring break week, the experience is presented in the form of posters with QR codes and NFC tokens. For children, it also offers the option to download and print a game booklet. Containing a map to help families find the position of the posters, this booklet also allows them to keep a tangible memory of the activity and continue playing even once they return home.
For the virtual part, the project uses new technologies and is accessible via tokens and QR codes at each point of interest. The nine points provide access to content on the phone with games, anecdotes, inviting people to discover the Plateau-Mont-Royal neighborhood in a new way.
