Making a 300-Year Legacy Accessible to All

The Congregation of the Grey Nuns of Montreal has a rich historical and spiritual heritage dating back nearly 300 years. Their goal: to make this history accessible to all visitors, including people with disabilities. The challenge was to adapt traditional interpretive materials to make them inclusive, modern, and easy to use.

Braille Signs Enhanced by Digital Technology

With the help of MySmartJourney, the Grey Nuns installed interpretive signs combining Braille and QR codes. Braille makes the information directly readable for the blind, while QR codes provide access to adapted audio content via a smartphone.

This combination of physical media (Braille) and accessible digital content makes it possible to share the story of the Grey Nuns with a wider audience, without excluding people who are visually impaired or blind.
