Joining forces during the pandemic with Les Fouines du Plateau
Highlighting local businesses
Mont-Royal Avenue is a diverse place. The businesses and attractions are close neighbors but diverse in character. Tourisme Montréal, the City of Montreal, the Ministry of Culture and Communications, and the Société de développement de l’Avenue du Mont-Royal had a vision: to make this urban quilt a destination, a collective entity that would delight both local stakeholders and residents and tourists.
The project had several objectives: maintain foot traffic in the neighborhood, introduce the public to hidden gems among small local businesses and architecture, in an innovative, original, and contactless manner.
Rapid deployment of a digital solution
Their vision led them to MySmartJourney. The Montreal-based startup had the technological solution. Following a call for proposals, accompanied by Anne-Josée Lacombe, an independent cultural mediator, the team created a project in service of the business community, residents, and visitors.
They used the tool to envision a journey that provides citizens of Plateau-Mont-Royal with a different, playful, and, most importantly, quickly and easily deployable vision of the city. Various stakeholders participated in the design of the journey to create a project that reflects them.
They engaged local merchants by inviting them to talk about their shops and placing Les Fouines' posters on their storefronts.
