Making the invisible visible with La Grande Ferme

Revisiting a historic site
La Grande Ferme is a historic site used by settlers since the 17th century. The site has had a turbulent history, and some of the original buildings have been destroyed, leaving only ruins today.
The site team then wondered how to present these buildings to the public, to give them a better vision of the territory under the regime of New France.
A collaboration with Stratéolab
By combining two technologies, those of MySmartJourney and Stratéolab, the Grande Ferme found the digital mediation it needed. At four specific locations, the site has placed panels enhanced with QR codes and a drawing.
Using a phone or digital tablet, visitors can scan the QR code and learn more about the building's history. Then, by pointing their device at the drawing, they see the building appear in augmented reality as it looked before it was destroyed. Remains include the house, the barn and the church.
