A cruise port

The Saguenay port receives a large number of visitors throughout the year arriving by cruise ships. In 2019, the port welcomed nearly 60,000 visitors. The pandemic has impacted its activities, and for two years, there was a halt in the arrival of cruise ships.

In 2021, with the return of cruise ship passengers, Promotion Saguenay, an economic development company responsible for tourism and the development of international cruises, wanted to rethink the welcome for these visitors passing through with limited time.

How to provide easy access to up-to-date information on activities to do in the surroundings?

Personalized assistance for international tourists

The idea was to place a panel at the entrance of the Cruise Pavilion inviting travelers to scan a QR code or an NFC chip. Thanks to free internet in the building, tourists can access content regularly updated by Promotion Saguenay.

On the platform, they can choose between French, English, and German. They also have access to a plethora of useful information to make the most of their time in Saguenay. They can explore the Port Village and the shops with the help of a map, find out what to do in the area such as renting electric bikes, a van, or visiting the Fjord Museum. They also have access to the complete Destination Saguenay website and weather forecasts to enhance their stay.
