Reaching more people with an exhibition

The Fugitifs! exhibition explores slavery in New France through the eyes of runaway slaves. The exhibition takes the form of ten life-size drawings, associated with QR codes. A series of audio clips, texts, drawings and historical sources complete the exhibition, enabling visitors to discover the characters featured in the works.

In order to reach as many visitors as possible, and to be presented in schools, the exhibition was created with the aim of being totally virtual, as well as itinerant.

The choice to make the exhibition 100% virtual

Since 100% of the content is on the MySmartJourney platform, the exhibition is easy to move around. In its physical form, only the drawings need to be transported to the new exhibition space. QR codes can be printed on new posters by the organization.

Fugitifs! was first exhibited at the Musée National des Beaux-Arts du Québec, before being rented by the Musée d'histoire de Sherbrooke. It is also loaned free of charge to schools, to give pupils a better understanding of slavery in all its forms.
