The Fouines du Plateau: A Family Activity, a Shared Experience
Enjoying the Attractions of Plateau Mont-Royal
In times of a pandemic, the major challenge for families is to find fun activities for everyone that adhere to health requirements. In the Plateau Mont-Royal neighborhood, the need for an interactive, simple, and affordable family activity arose.
Les Fouines du Plateau is a project developed in the context of health restrictions, where visiting another district in one's own city becomes a form of tourism. Supported by Tourisme Montréal, the City of Montreal, the Ministry of Culture and Communications, and the Société de développement de l’Avenue du Mont-Royal, this outdoor cultural journey was created to accompany the family bubble wandering the streets of the Plateau.
The little one has energy to spare, the teenager refuses to look up from their smartphone, dad wants to satisfy his sweet tooth, and mom is curious about the history of that charming house on the corner? Here's the activity that reconciles them all!
Family Exploration
When creating an engaging mediation, it's important to consider several elements. Firstly, a family choosing to do an activity wants to interact together, turning the experience into a true moment of sharing and joy. Similarly, the family may consist of various age groups, with diverse needs and interests.
The digital youth trail of Les Fouines du Plateau can be completed in order or disorder, according to the desires or interests of each visitor. The flexibility of the circuit allows them to explore nine points of interest at their own pace, without any time limits, and to visit this part of the city as if for the first time!
It's an innovation in interactive and multimedia urban cultural experience for families and, more broadly, for tourists. It provides complete freedom for their movements and explorations.
Each point offers a range of activities that cater to all tastes and interests, from discovering a local business to hunting for clues, exploring the architecture and history of the neighborhood, all directly on a personal mobile device.
