The emergence of new needs in the context of a pandemic.

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed our relationship with public places. For various stakeholders in the city of Montreal, the following question arose: how, in the midst of a pandemic, can we encourage families, local residents, or tourists to (re)discover Plateau-Mont-Royal safely?

A family journey, Les Fouines du Plateau, offers a curious, playful, and interactive stroll around Mont-Royal Avenue. This initiative was developed and supported by Tourisme Montréal, the City of Montreal, the Ministry of Culture and Communications, and the Société de développement de l'Avenue du Mont-Royal.

A proposal for a walking tour in a popular neighborhood.

A call for proposals was launched in 2020. Among the submissions, the one from MySmartJourney was chosen! The technology of the Montreal-based startup met the criteria of flexibility, rapid deployment, and ease of use, both for the design team and the visitors.

But above all, it was the innovative mediation proposal of Anne-Josée Lacombe, as an independent cultural mediator, that stood out (see other articles for more information).

Armed with the game booklet and the project map, follow the journey of Les Fouines, which connects nine attractions of Plateau-Mont-Royal, ranging from businesses to various cultural locations. Visitors, with their smartphones, scan the QR code or NFC tags to access the content.

Each of the nine points offers a unique experience where, through interactive activities, all five senses are stimulated. Explore the scents of the bakery, murals, architectural gems, and the flavors of local delicacies to see Plateau Mont-Royal from a new perspective: that of a series of beautiful and curious objects to explore and experience!
