Tourisme Rivière-du-Loup uses an incremental approach

Reusing existing resources to enrich the tourist experience
In Rivière-du-Loup, MySmartJourney technology has been seamlessly integrated into an existing tourism project. The city made the smart choice to reuse its physical structures (signs, totems) from previous projects and add an interactive digital layer.
Thanks to the addition of QR codes or NFC tokens, visitors can access immersive content: audio stories, videos, archive photos, quizzes, and personalized tours. This approach enables gradual and cost-effective implementation, while making the most of existing installations.
A simple, fast, and effective transformation
Rather than investing in new devices or designing digital signage from scratch, the city of Rivière-du-Loup chose a more pragmatic approach: leveraging its existing structures to test, improve, and deploy MySmartJourney.
Three successive versions of the same display illustrated this progression:
- An initial minimalist version
- An enhanced intermediate version (addition of QR codes, initial digital content)
- A finalized version, graphically integrated with optimized design
At each stage, the tool was adjusted to fit the existing infrastructure. It was never necessary to replace the media: only to complement them intelligently.
And that is precisely where MySmartJourney's strength lies: it adapts, it does not impose itself. This model demonstrates the flexibility of the solution, which allows for gradual action without technical complexity or unnecessary expense.
