Seconde Vie revitalizes its churches

One Theme – Several Destinations
Scattered all across Québec’s capital city are former churches—architectural masterpieces, ingenious and creative symbols of their times. Today, some of them became libraries, places of worship transformed into temples of knowledge. Ville de Québec wisely decided to showcase this cultural heritage for the benefit of tourists and its own citizens. But, with the showpieces so distant from one another, how could they draw them together into a single exhibition?
One Phone
The solution was MySmartJourney, the mobile home of the Seconde vie exhibition. Visitors to each church-turned-library were greeted by large display boards bearing text and images, and a QR code. A quick scan with a mobile phone, and the exhibition begins on the spot with audio testimonies and period photos.
In addition to information about the building in front of them, people gained access to the entire network of church-libraries including their locations and all their stories depicted in multimedia presentations. Second vie and MySmartJourney add enrichment and a city-wide perspective to the ordinary library visit!

Located at the heart of community life, religious buildings lend themselves superbly to conversion into libraries. In this way, they retain their original vocation as places of gathering and exchange.
