Soap bubbles, a museum prototype at the Montreal Science Centre

A redesigned digital mediation experience with the PRISME project
The Montreal Science Centre has created a museum prototype called Soap Bubbles as part of the Explore exhibition, with Prisme, Ottomata, and MySmartJourney, in order to collectively imagine new digital mediation tools aimed at offering visitors enriching and safe experiences.
Elisabeth Monast-Moreau, exhibition project manager, conceived and produced the content for this interactive test exhibit to provide additional information by revisiting the bubble machine and looking at it from a different perspective.
Taking a different look at information
The idea was to create a series of captivating content using MySmartJourney technology to discover more about the physical process of soap bubbles by scanning a QR code with a smartphone. The aim of this experiment was to give visitors more in-depth information about a scientific principle and to generate additional interest in the machine and the bubble formation process.
However, after this experiment, we realized that in an exhibition that was already highly interactive and tactile, the MySmartJourney solution was not suitable for a young audience. Digital content is less valuable when combined with large-scale physical manipulation. Nevertheless, when the goal is to generate conversation and strengthen bonds within a group, technology takes on its full meaning. Here, parents were able to engage in more exchanges with their children, which strengthened their bonds.
