Destination Rennes accompanies visitors to the commune of Bécherel
Making up for the lack of a tourist office
The town of Bécherel is one of the 43 communes attached to Rennes Métropole. Best known for its Antiquarian Book Fair, the town has a population of around 700, and welcomes some 35,000 visitors a year to discover its attractions, history and heritage, as well as its many bookshops.
Following the withdrawal of the local tourist office, Destination Rennes looked for a solution that would not only welcome tourists, but also guide them around the area.
A digital tour of the city
The tourist office chose to test the MySmartJourney web application. The idea was to install signs enhanced with NFC codes and chips at various points around the city to capture the attention of tourists.
Behind the posters, visitors discover images, texts and quizzes to discover the city in a playful way. They are invited to look around and move to other locations chosen by Destination Rennes to learn even more about the city's streets, houses and gardens.
The tool enables Destination Rennes to streamline the presence of visitors by offering them the opportunity to move around the city's less touristy attractions.
