How the Port of Quebec is Transforming a Paper-Based Activity into a Contactless One
A Paper Rally
Before the pandemic, the Port of Quebec offered a paper rally that allowed visitors to visit the port over a given period of time, from July to October. Participants could go to the reception desk to collect their question book and then wander around to answer them, accompanied by a guide.
The arrival of the pandemic caused the rally to be suspended, and the Port had to find a way to offer it while respecting health regulations.
A Digital Rally
To ensure the rally's continued existence while respecting health standards, the Port decided to transfer it to a digital platform to make it more easily accessible. This resulted in a tour of the port using QR codes and NFC tags.
The transition to the platform was easy. This allowed the Port team to focus on the content and its gamification. But it also allowed for improvements by adding audio, new visuals, and sometimes videos.
The data helped validate visitor participation in the rally, as well as its increase compared to the paper version.
