Informing citizens about the city's investments

As part of the 56th Quebec Games finals in Rivière-du-Loup, the city wanted to immerse visitors in the excitement of the very first finals in 1971 by offering them an immersive experience in the history of this unforgettable event.

For this special occasion, the municipality also took the opportunity to communicate about the investments it has made in sports and cultural infrastructure. In addition to traditional press communications, Tourisme Rivière-du-Loup, in partnership with other stakeholders, had the brilliant idea of creating a temporary digital tour, using the power of storytelling to tell the captivating story of municipal investments.

Thanks to this unique initiative, visitors will be able to immerse themselves in the city's history and discover the municipality's efforts and dedication to providing quality infrastructure for its residents and visitors.

Highlighting sports and cultural infrastructure through storytelling

The idea was to create a six-stop walking tour that tells the story of the first Quebec Games Finals in 1971 through the city's sports facilities. Visitors are invited to visit the Cité des Jeunes stadium, the Cégep swimming pool, and the athletics track, passing by the Cégep residences, the Games basin, and Parc Blais, home to Piloup, the very first Games mascot. Participants are encouraged to scan the QR codes provided to discover the history of the facilities through captivating archival images and audio recordings.

MySmartJourney thus allows citizens to discover municipal life and its investments in an interactive way, just as was done in the city of Le Mans, France, to inform the public about the renaming of its stadium.
