Tourisme Rivière-du-Loup creates a new temporary tour on the history of the Quebec Games

A major event
In August 1971, Rivière-du-Loup hosted the very first Quebec Games Finals. This event left a lasting impression on the entire region. Half a century later, Rivière-du-Loup wanted to revive the excitement of that era by celebrating the 56th Quebec Games Finals, which took place from March 3 to 11, 2023.
More than 150,000 people participated in this competition. To share the history of these famous Games with its visitors, Tourisme Rivière-du-Loup came up with the idea of creating a new tour with MySmartJourney, especially for the occasion.
Digital podcast tour On the trail of the Games
A six-stop walking tour recounting the 1971 Finals with exclusive historical content, passing through key locations in the history of the Games: the Cité des Jeunes stadium, the Cégep swimming pool, the athletics track, the Cégep residences, the Games basin, and Parc Blais, home to Piloup, the first mascot of the 1971 Games.
Armed with their phones, visitors scan QR codes on the panels to learn more about these iconic locations. They then listen to podcasts of an athlete telling a young girl about how the Games were held at the time and access archival photos and videos.
