La Courgerie offers a scarecrow hunt for children
Welcoming a family audience
La Courgerie is a squash farm that welcomes many visitors to its fields during the picking season (August to October). Picking squash is a family activity. To make this activity enjoyable, La Courgerie came up with the idea of developing a game for children to entertain them and hold their attention, while parents buy from among the 300 species of squash on offer.
Capturing children's attention with an activity within their reach
The activity deployed takes the form of a treasure hunt, more specifically scarecrows! They're techno-scarecrows, as they carry labels enhanced with a QR code. They're scattered around the fields, and it's off to find them! Using their phones, children scan a QR code to access a range of information and games.
Accompanied by a digital mascot, children can learn more about cucurbits, farm work and squash legends. Games, audios, videos and challenges enhance the content.
